Three Square Food Band will be benefiting from the PokerStars in its upcoming poker tournament. Numerous celebrities are expected to come at the gala. Tony Hawk, a skating legend who helped the Olympian Shaun White is one of the expected guests.
The tournament also looks forward to actors for the name of charity like Christian Slater, star in “Broken Arrow,” Untamed Heart,” and “Young Guns II,” and Brad Garrett who appeared in movies “Night at the Museum,” Ratatouille,” as well as Disney’s “ A Bug’s Life.” Joanna Krupa, hostess of North America Poker Tour as well as Team PokerStars Sports Stars Orel Hershiser will also play in the competition.

With the preliminary approval of the Nevada Gaming Control board, there’s only one transaction left before Harrah’s can own Planet Hollywood. Last September of 2009, Harrah’s paid Planet Hollywood’s debt amounting to $70 million with a stipulation that on January of 2010, Harrah’s will be in charge of Planet Hollywood. Unfortunately, this will also mean that Harrah’s will acknowledge the remaining debt of Planet Hollywood amounting to $554 million.
This step Harrah’s is taking in controlling Planet Hollywood would save a lot of job when possible at the same time put a stop to Planet Hollywood in failing and file bankruptcy as explained by Dennis Neilander, Gaming Control Board Chairman.
The Nevada Gaming Commission is expected to grant it’s final approval in favor of Harrah’s control over Planet Hollywood on Feb. 18 of this year. By this time, Harrah’s will employ Planet Hollywood’s employees. According to its executives, Harrah’s will hold on to the 2,300 existing staff members of Planet Hollywood. This is around 95 percent of Planet Hollywood’s employees. Harrah’s also owns Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas casinos and Marilyn Winn, president of both casinos will also be the new president of Planet Hollywood.

Nordic Poker Awards was previously known as the Scandinavian Awards. PokerStars will announce the awards before the Copenhagen European Poker Tour stop on February 15, 2010. Although, the United States have the top most prestigious professional poker players, the players from Nordic countries still features a high percentage of gamers in the industry.
The 2010 Nordic Poker Awards is thrown in order to award the top performances of poker players. Best Live Tournament Player, Best Performance, Best Online Player and Rookie of the Year are the awards to be given to them.
Some of the popular poker names that were nominated are Patrik Antonius, Peter Eastgate, Ville Wahlbeck, Ilari Sahamies, Jani Vilmunen and Dag Martin Mikkelsen. The awards will be given to the player that wins the voting which was decided by the public.
Pubic voting as the Nordic Poker population will decide which among the 30 nominees will take home the awards. Murat “Terrible Turk” Sahan from Poker Magazine, Jens Mogensen from Ace Magazine, Jasper Pääkkönen and Kjetil Flåten are the board of judges for the winners.

The Morongo Band of Mission Indians formed a group called the California Tribal Intrastate Internet Poker Consortium. It is one of the largest casino gaming tribes. According to recent reports lately, the California Indian tribes will be pushed next month.

William Reynolds won worth $576,000 at the age of twenty one years old in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) High Roller Event. He was an Iowa poker player who took down the $25,000 buy-in in the PCA.

Daniel Alaei defeated Josh Arieh in the World Poker Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic. He was able to bring home the $1,428,430 as the first-place prize. Daniel Christopher Alaei was named the grand prize winner of the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Poker classic that ended this week. He had outdone the other 328 players who are on the field and take home an astounding $1.4 million in bag money.
Alaei specializes on NLHE cash games and has already collected more than $3.7 million dollars in live games during his poker career. He has 2 WSOP bracelets to his name and had won the $10,000 World Championship Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-better event and made 18 cashes in the WSOP earning him an amount of $1,533,917 respectively.
