About 150 players have been blessed by being millionaires in the WSOP. In this list you’ll see the top 10 poker players who had gained a lot in the tournament and how and when they got their shares.
1.Jamie Gold - $12,067,292
He won the 2006 Main Events against the largest field in WSOP history. Gold took home the $12,000,000 prize, the biggest pot ever in WSOP and place him at the top of moneymakers list in poker. Jamie Gold also cashed in 3 other separate events taking home another $67,000.
The number of the WSOP participants may not swell again like the 2006 WSOP because of the UIGEA bill and the withdrawal of European poker sites from the US market, so Gold may have the chance to hold on to his title for a little while except if someone on this list win a big event.
2.Peter Eastgate - $9,152,416
Eastgate is the youngest poker player who has won the WSOP Main Event. He got hold of the second leading prize in WSOP during the 2008 Main Event. And it’s his first and only cashed in the WSOP. That’s worth something right?
Peter also has the biggest opportunity to take the title from Gold if he ever won again another Main Event. Let’s see to that in the upcoming years.
3.Jerry Yang - $8,250,000
He triumph over thousands on the 2007 Main Event and Yang only has one cashed in for that matter in the WSOP and it’s worth millions for him.
Some people say that Yang’s win the 2007 Main Event will be his last. This is due to his lack of poker skills. But many critics are happy that Yang has a pleasant personality that will cover up his poker deficiency.
4.Joe Hachem - $7,941,823
Hachem is one of the superior players in the WSOP who won a Main Event. He already cashed in 8 WSOP events with 2 final tables ending in the 2nd and 4th place respectively. He also won the WPT Five Diamond easily in 2006, giving him another $2,000,000 to take home.
When he won the 2005 Main Event, it is actually his coming out party and also the first preamble of the Australian chant, “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie…Oy, Oy, Oy!!!”
5.Allen Cunningham - $6,717,791
Cunningham is the primary non winner of the Main Event that made it to this list, thought he got his biggest win at the 2006 Main Event finishing in the 4th place. He is a long time poker pro with 5 bracelets and more than 40 cashes in the WSOP. He took $3,000,000 worth of money during his bout in the 2006 WSOP.
Cunningham may not be famous as his counterparts but he’s one of the most excellent tournament players in the community.
6.Greg Raymer - $6,487,512
He won the 2004 Main Event and he became the first ever poker player who gained from an event with a big field. He came out on top against 2,576 players to win the title and got hold of the $5,000,000 prize.
Raymer is also known as the Fossilman amongst his peers. He already cashed in 11 other times since his win the Main Event and he already participated in 5 tables, one of which he finishes in 3rd place.
7.Ivan Demidov - $6,468,381
He never won a bracelet in the WSOP but he ended up second place during the 2008 Main Event and he’s also famous for being one of the few faces which has a bright future in the game. The Russian native also accomplish 3rd place during the WSOP Europe Main Event in 2008.
8.Paul Wasicka - $6,192,711
He’s popular for snagging the largest brides-main payday in poker tournaments. Wasicka is Full Tilt Poker professional who teach in the Full Tilt Poker Academy and also one of the most promising players due to his poker skills. He also has 3 cashes in the WSOP.
9.Phil Hellmuth - $6,054,988
Phil Hellmuth might be killing himself right now because a lot of people on this list are not his acquaintance. This poker pro already has 11 WSOP bracelets on his wrist but his biggest pay so far was only $755,000.
Phil already got 73 cashed in the WSOP which is the all time high record, however, he still did not win a big enough prize like the other names on this list.
10.Michael Binger - $4,853,748
This intellectual has emerged as 3rd placer during the 2006 Main Event. Binger also has 10 other cashes to his name, but he’s one of the most unknown players in the game.
Michael Binger has a PhD in Theoretical Physics but he opt to become a poker player that to waste his brains in a science lab because of the greater pay that poker can give.
