7th Annual Anniversary of Chris Moneymaker was held at ESPN Inside Deal
Going back on the year 2003 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event was shaken by not so famous accountant in Tennessee, Chris Moneymaker. He joined the Inside Deal of ESPN this Tuesday. WSOP usually takes off in the month of May. It was in 2003 that Moneymaker over headed Titan pro Sammy Fartha in the $10,000 buy-in tournament. The said anniversary was hosted by Laura Lane and Bernard Lee.
Aside from the Inside Deal, there’s also a reason to celebrate for the closing of the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) and the winner for this season was Ryan “toetagu” Fair. He also joined the Inside Deal and won a total of $1.1 million. Fair take part in the ESPN through phone and he told the listeners that, “The structure is really good and this year I haven’t played as many events as I normally do because I had an elbow injury, but it’s just a good tournament [series]. The buy-ins are a lot bigger than they normally are.”
As part of the poker industry icon, Moneymaker is only registered to join one event in the 2010 WSOP. He commented, “Right now, I’m just playing in the Main Event. I’m talking with my wife and we’re trying to figure out if I can go out the first week. I’d like to play in the $50,000 [Player’s Championship]. My big goal right now is just to play in the WSOP and from there we’ll see if we can win it.”
The Latest WSOP bracelet will be designed by Steve Soffa who travelled with Andrew Feldman the Poker Editor of ESPN.com. Joining the show was Christina Lindley who earns $380,000 from online poker. The interview with Lindley will be aired on ESPN.com on June 7th.
